What is a Crypto Wallet?

A crypto wallet is like a digital keychain that holds your money and proves who you are online. Think of it as:

• Your identity - Your wallet address is your username
• Your bank account - Holds your USDC for purchases
• Your signature - Proves you own your wallet

How to Get Started

1. Get a wallet

   Recommended: Coinbase Smart Wallet - The easiest option! Sign in with your email or existing Coinbase account. No seed phrases to write down, works instantly on Base.

   Other options: MetaMask, Rainbow

2. Set up your wallet

   Coinbase Smart Wallet: Just sign in with your email or Coinbase account. That's it!

   Other wallets: Follow the app's instructions to create a new wallet. You'll get a "recovery phrase" - write this down somewhere safe! It's the ONLY way to recover your wallet if you lose access.

3. Make sure you're on Base network

   gibme.io runs on Base - an Ethereum layer-2 network with near-zero fees. Coinbase Smart Wallet is already on Base. Other wallets may prompt you to switch networks when you connect.

4. Get USDC and ETH on Base

   You'll need two things:

   • USDC - To buy and sell items (stablecoin pegged to $1 USD)
   • ETH - For gas fees (~$0.01-0.05 per transaction on Base)

   How to get them:

   • Buy on Coinbase and withdraw to your wallet on Base network
   • Use Base Bridge to move from Ethereum to Base
   • Tip: Get ~$5 USDC and ~$2 ETH to start (ETH lasts a long time on Base!)
5. Click "Connect Wallet" on gibme.io

   That's it! Your wallet is your account. Start buying and selling instantly with no middlemen.
